This page provides answers to frequently asked questions about MagicBand and MagicBand+ products, Key to the World Cards, Admission Cards, and Disney PhotoPass Cards at the Walt Disney World Resort, the Disneyland Resort, and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa (collectively, the “Resorts”). How do the RF Devices work?
MagicBand and MagicBand+ products, Key to the World Cards, Admission Cards, and Disney PhotoPass Cards are radio frequency (RF) technology-enabled devices (collectively, “RF Devices”). Use of the RF Devices allows us to authenticate you and the benefits associated with you if you choose to claim one or more RF Devices using your Disney Account. As further described below, we may be able to determine the location of Guests using or wearing RF Devices at the Resorts.
Key to the World Cards, Admission Cards, and Disney PhotoPass Cards (together, “RF Cards”) contain a passive HF radio frequency chip. MagicBand and MagicBand+ products contain an HF radio frequency device and a transmitter that sends and receives RF signals through a small antenna inside the MagicBand and MagicBand+ products. MagicBand+ products also contain a Bluetooth chip that can permit communication with other Bluetooth-enabled devices (if you choose to pair your MagicBand+ product with such devices), as well as with sensors at our Resorts.
Is my information stored on the RF Devices?
The RF Devices themselves do not store your personally identifying information. Rather, the RF Devices contain a randomly assigned code that securely links to an encrypted database. This allows us to associate your RF Device with the benefits you have purchased and to collect information regarding your interactions with the various RF Device readers located at the Resorts.
Can Disney track my location using the RF Devices?
The RF Devices are not GPS-based and do not enable collection of continuous location signals. However, we may be able to detect your location through the RF Devices while you are at the Resorts. Some benefits can be unlocked by “tapping” your RF Device to short-range touch points located within the Resorts. MagicBand and MagicBand+ products can also be detected and read by long-range sensors placed in select locations throughout the Resorts. Additionally, MagicBand+ products may communicate with sensors located at our Resorts to trigger certain effects or experiences in the Resort, on your MagicBand+ product, or in our mobile apps.

Can I use my RF Device after my vacation?
Guests can keep their RF Devices after their vacation and may be able to use them on a return visit to the Resorts. In addition, from time to time, members of The Walt Disney Family of Companies may introduce products or services that can recognize the RF Devices and deliver experiences or value in or outside the Resort if the guest chooses to use their RF Device for those purposes. Information will be collected in connection with such use of the RF Device only if the guest chooses to avail themselves of such products and services.
Can I pair my MagicBand or MagicBand+ product to other devices?
From time to time, members of The Walt Disney Family of Companies may introduce products or services, or collaborate with third party companies to introduce products or services, that Guests can choose to pair to their MagicBand or MagicBand+ products to enable additional experiences or value in and/or outside the Resorts. MagicBand+ products may be paired with your mobile device using the My Disney Experience app.
